Welcome to The 2025 NCSAC Elections
Candidate Bio:
Heyyyyy Knights! 📢
My name is Bruin, but you can call me Bruno. I am a first year Paramedic student and your current Director for the School of Allied Health with the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC), and I am running for a second term. Read on below and catch you on the flip side!
A Little About Me:
I'm an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking, fishing, and everything in between. As a true Honda fan, I ride both a dirt bike and a motorcycle. When I'm not outdoors, you’ll find me competing in running events or hitting the gym—fitness junkie vibes, ha-ha!
I’m a hands-on guy, too—whether it's framing, flooring installation, electrical work, trim work, or pretty much anything in between, I’m always ready to get my hands dirty. In the warmer months, you’ll catch me up north—way up north, like two hours north of Timmins kind of up north, at the cottage, and of course on my dirt bike.
And, of course, I’m a proud dog dad to my fur dude!
If you're into Hondas, fitness, outdoor adventures, or just want to meet a pretty awesome Paramedic student, come say hi in the halls or hit me up on Instagram!
My Commitment to Community Service:
I’m passionate about giving back to my community and have dedicated over a decade and counting to volunteer work in Niagara. My journey began with youth mental health advocacy, followed by serving on the City of St. Catharines Youth Advisory Council, the leadership team of St. John Ambulance’s Medical First Response Unit, and now as a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross.
As a teen cancer survivor, I also participate annually in cancer fundraising events. Over the past couple of years, I have taken part in Niagara Health’s Big Move Cancer Ride, having raised over $8,000 in the past two years alone with team Niagara College, and in all for local cancer care at the St. Catharines' Walker Family Cancer Centre.
My Experience:
✅Elected First-Year Paramedic Class Representative
✅Past St. Catharines Youth Advisory Council Member
✅Gender and Sexual Base Violence Committee Experience
✅Two Years of Student Governance Experience with NCSAC
✅Two Years of 2SLGBTQIA+ Advocacy Leadership
✅Prior leadership with St. John Ambulance
✅Prior Leadership in the Health Sector
✅Dedicated Canadian Red Cross Volunteer
✅Board Secretary & Policy, By-Law, Advisory, and EDI Committee Experience
What I’ve Done as Director:
✅ Reformed NCSAC elections to improve the democratic process
✅ Advocated for equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives
✅ Connected all First Year Paramedic Program Students in a group chat
✅ Kept students informed during the averted faculty strike
✅ Pushed for Paramedic program open lab access when it was delayed
✅ Fought for more varsity and intramural sports for students
✅ Brought Pride celebrations to Niagara College campuses for the first time in 2023
✅ Advocated for Niagara College’s historic first involvement in Toronto Pride (2024)
✅ Worked on improving and maintaining the student Breakfast Program
✅ Brought Drag Shows to campus to promote inclusivity and student engagement
✅ As Secretary of the Board, made policy reforms that strengthen Board Policies, ultimately
ensuring as a self-governing board we are holding ourselves accountable and ensuring good
governance.
Why I’m Running:
I have been a dedicated advocate for student needs, pushing for:
✔️ Lower ancillary and parking fees
✔️ More sustainable funding for NCSAC
✔️ Sustainable approaches to NCSAC’s operations
✔️ Health program reforms at Niagara College
✔️ Equity, diversity, and inclusivity on campus
✔️ More on campus recreational activities
✔️ More inclusive events on campus
✔️ NCSAC democratic reforms
As a Paramedic student in an extremely mentally and physically demanding program, I understand the pressures students face. I am committed to:
✅ Fighting for better mental health resources
✅ Ensuring a fair and inclusive campus experience
✅ Making education more affordable
A vote to re-elect me as Allied Health Director means:
❌ Voting down any ancillary fee increases.
❌ Voting down proposals that reduce student support services.
❌ Standing against higher fees for fewer resources—e.g. voting down increased athletic fees when there are fewer varsity, intramural, and extramural options then there were in 2019, compared to other colleges.
❌ Stopping unfair transportation costs—proposing lower parking pass fees to align with the cost of a bus pass.
