School of Hospitality & Tourism Candidate

NC Board of Governors Student Rep Candidate

Hello fellow students! My name is Madison Key and I am running to be both the next NCSAC director for the School of Hospitality and Tourism and to be the Niagara College Board of Governors Student Representative. I am currently in my 3rd year of the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality) program. I have had many different hospitality related work experiences as well as being involved throughout Niagara College.

I decided to study hospitality because I enjoy making connections with people and helping to create memories. My goal for after graduation is event planning. I am currently working as a front desk agent, banquet server, and an NCSAC Street Team Member. I am also the current vice president of the HFTP Niagara College Student Chapter which is a club that has recently returned to the DJP Campus after stopping back in March 2020. This club is about hospitality professionals and creating valuable connections. I am also part of the Adjudication Committee for the President’s Award for Innovation in Student Learning and Success. My most recent volunteer experience includes the Grape and Wine Festival and Cool as Ice Gala. I have also been taking part in the weekly drop in dance sessions in the gym. In my free time I enjoy reading, playing baseball, listening to music, and dancing.

As a part of my program, I will have the opportunity to take part in two summer Co-ops. Last summer, due to Covid, students had to stay in Canada. I took advantage of this situation and traveled all the way to Lake Louise, Alberta to work as a front desk agent. This summer I have been accepted to complete my Co-op work term as an attractions cast member with the Walt Disney World Company in Orlando, Florida.

I feel I would be a great candidate for these positions as a result of my many leadership and hospitality experiences. I would be honoured to represent students on both of these boards. If you are deciding on who to vote for please feel free to reach out. I am always happy to chat and will be posting all kinds of updates on my instagram page. Don’t forget to vote.
